I noticed this sentence in this week’s reading (Chapter 4). Sometimes blanket statements should be used with a bit of caution. This is an example of one such case. Have you ever read a newspaper column online? Or an article from the NY Times weekly magazine? When I read things like this, I read them. I don’t scan them.
When I’m looking to buy a battery for my watch, I scan the store listings.
But I’m not always looking to buy batteries.

Barry,
Please try to be constructive with your comments.
This is meant to be for your learning purposes …. If there is something that you would like to explore, this is the place to do so.

And that is what I am doing.
I am using this as a blog. I am assuming that a blog is a place to record your reactions to things; your opinions. As you say in the blog instructions,
Your Design Blog is intended to be a personal learning tool. It tracks your learning journey and is where you will report insights, biases, ideas, connections and struggles.
When I read generalizations that are inaccurate (in my opinion), the blog would seem to be a good place to report my reactions. Yes, it is personal. No, it is not scholarly. Is it constructive? To me it is, because I am responding to a statement that I instinctively feel is wrong, and I am forcing myself to defend my reaction with examples. And, as the medium is a blog, I am inviting response.
